# CodeSurf Local CLI for AI agents to open interactive code graphs for humans. Ruby, Python, TypeScript, JavaScript/Node.js. Install on the human's machine (Node >=22.12, graphical desktop): npm install -g https://codesurf.io/downloads/codesurf-cli-latest.tgz codesurf --version Natural-language investigation/chat requires installed Codex CLI and human sign-in: npm install -g @openai/codex codex login Reuse existing login. Never request or copy credentials. Human completes interactive sign-in. Python repositories require an interpreter >=3.10 supporting their syntax; override with CODESURF_PYTHON. macOS tested; Windows/Linux not yet verified. Linux requires Electron desktop libraries. Use: codesurf /absolute/path/to/repo "Specific scenario with inputs and assumptions" codesurf --demo codesurf /path/to/repo "Scenario" --html-only --out ./flow.html codesurf --help Run on the local desktop to make the window visible. Remote/headless agents use --html-only. Runs reuse one window with tabs. HTML and JSON reports contain source snapshots. Chat needs desktop viewer. Static source analysis does not execute the target application or guarantee runtime behavior. AI tracing sends source to the configured model provider. Do not publish private reports without authorization. Update: ask the human to quit CodeSurf, then run: npm install -g https://codesurf.io/downloads/codesurf-cli-latest.tgz --prefer-online codesurf --version No private repo access required. Not published on npm registry; use the direct package URL, not npm update codesurf-cli. Latest version and immutable URL: https://codesurf.io/downloads/latest.json Full instructions and real screenshots: https://codesurf.io/ Ruby: requires Ruby with built-in Ripper; set CODESURF_RUBY for recent syntax. Dynamic dispatch, Rails DSL routes and metaprogramming are not inferred. Use --languages typescript, python to disable Ruby.
